About Me! But More

So, you came to learn more about me, and I just want to say thank you for that! Below, you’ll find some fun and meaningful facts about who I am!

Me again!

Involvements

I am currently an active brother of Theta Tau, a professional engineering fraternity. While it is a professional organization, my experience has gone far beyond developing professionalism. Theta Tau has provided me with valuable opportunities, including serving as the Professional Development Board Lead and a member of the Community Service Board. These roles have taught me the importance of being a responsible representative of the organizations I serve.

Theta Tau upholds three main pillars: brotherhood, community service, and professionalism. Through these values, I have gained essential skills and lessons in building relationships, earning trust, and demonstrating loyalty both personally and on behalf of those I represent.

Socially, I am actively involved in several Asian organizations at my university, including the Asian Student Association, the Filipino Student Association, and the Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers. These organizations have provided me with meaningful relationships, reliable mentorship, and opportunities to engage with the community all while helping me stay grounded in my cultural roots.

Community

Community is one of the greatest gifts an individual can have. Whether it's a support system, a team, or an organization, belonging to something larger than yourself carries real weight and that idea shapes how I approach everything I do. To me, community is a two-way street. It is a group you can lean on and trust, but equally, it's an opportunity to step up and contribute.

The people around you quietly shape your mindset and the standards you hold yourself to. Seeing others succeed does not spark competition but it sparks motivation. Celebrating those around you naturally pushes you to bring your best to whatever you take on. Just as importantly, your community should be a source of growth; people you can learn from and turn to freely whenever you need.

But community also creates responsibility. When you are part of something genuine, you are presented with chances to lead by example and to lift others in areas where you are strong, to offer guidance, and to create the same sense of comfort and trust that was once extended to you. That cycle of giving and receiving is what makes a community stand strong and last.

Interests

In my free time, yep, you probably guessed it, I love cycling and taking in the world around me. To me, cycling is more than just exercise, it’s an opportunity that has taught me countless life lessons. While the physical benefits are undeniable, cycling also offers valuable mental growth, teaching patience, planning, and calmness with every ride. Cycling has also been a source of mental motivation for me, as I set goals for each ride and continually challenge myself to reach new personal records.

I also love anything outdoors because it makes me feel connected to the world around us. Although the world is advancing rapidly in the digital and technical space, it's always nice to step away from our screens and enjoy a beautiful view. The views after a tough climb or rough patch always feel the most rewarding.

Above all, my deepest interest stems from a curiosity about how everything seems to fit together. Whether it's a simple screw in a wall, a V8 car engine, or a complex supercomputer storing exabytes of data, I’m driven by a desire to understand and learn. I always appreciate learning from mentors, as having guidance during the growth phase is incredibly crucial.

Motives

I come from a family deeply rooted in education, including a grade school teacher, a music teacher, and a college professor. This background naturally influenced me to become involved in groups and organizations focused on teaching and mentoring. It was not by chance, it was the result of discovering a passion that has become one of my strongest sources of motivation.

Going back to grade school, I always found myself involved in tutoring through the Math and Science Honor Society, and I continued that passion through college by working part-time at Mathnasium and serving as an undergraduate learning assistant.

With this mentality, I have always been fortunate enough to help the people, environment, and world around me. I strongly believe that to confidently say you have mastered something, you need to be able to teach it to those around you. Wanting to share and hear experiences, whether technical or social, has been a strong motivation for me.
